Abady Recalls Maintenance & Growth Formula for Cats
The Robert Abady Dog Food Co., a Poughkeepsie, New York-based pet food manufacturer, has issued a recall for one lot of Abady Highest Quality Maintenance & Growth Formula for Cats due to possible Salmonella contamination.
The following products are included in the cat food recall:
2 lb, 5 lb and 15 lb boxes of Abady Highest Quality Maintenance & Growth Formula for Cats with lot # 14029/21 stamped on the right side top of the box.
The recalled cat food is made with chicken meal and menhaden fish meal.

According to a press release issued by the FDA, cat food products affected by this recall were distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders. The recall was initiated after routine testing by the Robert Abady Dog Food Co. revealed the potential for Salmonella contamination.
At the time of the press release no illnesses had been reported.
If you or your pet had contact with the recalled product, you are advised to watch for symptoms that may develop. Symptoms ofSalmonella poisoning in pets include lethargy, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. People who handle contaminated pet products may exhibit similar symptoms.
Production of the product has been suspended while the FDA and company officials continue their investigation as to the source of the problem.
Customers are advised to immediately discontinue use of any affected product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Robert Abady Dog Food Co. customer representatives will be available at 1-845-473-1900, Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5PM Eastern Time to field questions.
A positive Salmonella test forced Abady to recall two frozen dog foods in June 2013. Recalled at that time were 3-pound bags of Abady Frozen High Stress/High Performance Dog Food and Abady Frozen Growth Formula for Puppies of the Large & Giant Breeds.
